Hi, I'm Sarah Galvan, the founder of Got a Minute HR. I started this business because I believe the world needs better workplaces.

From the Trenches to Transformation: My Journey to Building Healthy Company Culture

My 25+ years in the workforce have been an eye-opening journey. I've seen the spectrum of company cultures, from inspiring to soul-crushing. I've been the employee, the manager with limited resources, and the business owner with the weight of responsibility.

Most of my career was spent managing teams in the Finance Industry, with a decade spent abroad in Australia. Living and working overseas instilled a deep appreciation for diversity and a unique perspective on culture. Though all my roles helped shape my passion for company culture, it was as Director of People & Culture that inspired my mission to build better workplaces.

​

Here, I had the chance to leverage my years of experience leading successful teams and apply it to an entire company. Honestly, I wasn’t sure if my team level success would translate into companywide success.  Here goes nothing, let’s give it a go! With a leadership team hungry for a more collaborative and productive environment, we embarked on a culture transformation journey.

Challenges, like COVID, arose, but we persevered. As we focused on building a healthy culture, we witnessed a snowball effect: increased alignment, collaboration, and ultimately, revenue! It became clear – culture wasn't just theory; it was actionable and impactful.

Fueled by this experience, I delved into my 25 years of people leading to identify the core drivers of true cultural change. This led to the Got A Minute HR Culture Assessment™, a tool that assesses the 10 key factors shaping a healthy company culture.

Let's face it, many companies struggle with unhealthy work environments. It's not that they lack good intentions; it's often a lack of understanding about how culture affects their bottom line. But the tide is turning. Companies recognize that good employees seek good employers.

The challenge? The abundance of unfiltered information can be overwhelming. That's where I come in. I've done research, applied the knowledge, and achieved tangible results.

My enthusiasm for workplace culture is contagious. I research new trends, take continuing education courses (for fun!), and hold the prestigious SHRM - Certified Human Resources Professional credential.
